Evercare Scholars Program

Helping the best minds follow their hearts

At the roots of Evercare—at our very heart—are our Nurses and Nurse Practitioners. It takes strong, caring individuals to provide our model of care. To help advance nursing excellence in our country, and to promote nationwide awareness of Evercare's culture of caring, we have created the Evercare Scholars program, a $100,000 scholarship for graduate nursing students. Combined with last year's funding, Evercare has committed $200,000 to help fund the education of nearly a dozen graduate nursing students.

For the 2007–8 academic year, five $12,000 scholarships were awarded to graduate nursing students studying ways to improve health care delivered in long-term-care settings at the John A. Hartford Foundation Centers of Geriatric Nursing Excellence, which are located at five top-tier universities across the country. In addition, Evercare is donating $20,000 each to the Arizona State University College of Nursing and Healthcare Innovation and the University of Minnesota College of Nursing to help establish Centers of Geriatric Nursing Excellence. The centers will be committed to educating graduate students with a focus on geriatric care and also retaining and recruiting outstanding geriatric nursing faculty.

Evercare strives every day to improve quality of life for people who have long-term or advanced illness, are older or have disabilities, and every improvement requires education. With the Baby Boom generation reaching retirement, Evercare knows that the demand for quality nurses will only increase. The Evercare Scholars Program provides future leaders with the support they need to improve care and advance the nursing profession.

More and more caring, capable nurses will be called upon to do something extraordinary, something important—improving the quality of life for older adults. With our efforts, Evercare strives to ensure there is never a shortage of these important professionals. The Evercare Scholars Program provides students with a chance to make a difference—not only with their minds, but also with their hearts.
